GSC hosts sailing day
Gravesend Sailing Club hosted a visit by Groundwork Kent & Medway on Thursday 24th July. Children, parents and staff spent the day at the club. Initially playing games on the adjacent promenade, they then had a 'Blue Peter' session making model boats from milk bottles etc. Once the river had risen in height, they then boarded sailing boats skippered by club members and went out to experience sailing on the Thames. The Mayor and Lady Mayoress attended, as did Deputy Leader Councillor David Turner and Councillor John Cubitt. The Lady Mayoress declared her wish to go sailing on a return visit, when more appropriately kitted out ! The photographs speak for themselves (click on a photo to see a larger image) - there were many excited pledges to return for the club's Open Day on the 2nd August. It was gratifying to see an outside group enjoying the experience of sailing the Thames. The club is committed to playing a greater role in the Gravesend community and hope that many more people will become involved with its activities.

If you want to find out more, why not come to our Open Day Saturday 2nd August 10 am to 4 pm? (You do not need to own a boat to join).

Our next beginners sailing course is September 13th,14th,20th, 21st.
